Robert is an industrial contractor based north of the U.S. border in Canada. Since he has clients on both sides of the line, his company faces the ongoing challenge of adhering to two sets of government regulations, not to mention the individual states and provinces found in each country. A lot of Robert’s job is simply understanding how to build a facility that can withstand the rigors of whichever industry it serves. With the case of meat packing, for instance, there are considerations for cleanliness and maintaining a hygienic environment which go beyond just good organization. His clients must see the results not only from the eye test, but the results of inspections, both self-imposed and those imposed by government health workers.

In his latest job, Robert was tasked with building a meat-packing facility in Ontario from the ground up. Logistically, this was no different from upgrading an old facility in terms of how he addressed the walls, minus the removal of the previous materials before you can install the new ones. Fortunately, Robert had already used Duramax PVC wall panels many times before in previous jobs, so he had already sold his client on its benefits by the time we came in. We sent samples upon request nonetheless, and this was enough to seal the deal.

Robert knows that PVC (vinyl) panels are the only wall material that can promise 100% waterproof surface, which is ideal for a situation where a high volume of fluids pass. The assurances that vinyl doesn’t allow for bacterial growth is more than just a bonus for a meatpacking plant, it’s a requirement. Any sign of spoiling in one batch of meat could spell disaster for a meatpacking operation, affecting their reputation even if they recover from losses. The client was pleased that Robert could offer freedom from contamination long-term, especially since PVC wall panels don’t degrade like standard materials such as concrete or fiberglass. After Rober completed another successful build, the plant is up and running, shipping packaged beef and chicken to households throughout the U.S. and Canada.
