Donovan runs a long-term meat storage and packing facility in San Antonio, Texas. His business started the same as many in the meatpacking industry, as an offshoot of cattle farming which eventually became a full-time operation. After a decade of running the cattle ranch and the facility, Donovan decided the cost of upkeep and the level of attention required by the cows was cutting into the potential of his meatpacking operation. He concluded that the packaging plant was better suited for the future, since more and more people were going away from eating meat, and it could also be used to package meat substitutes. He sold the farm for a sizable seven-figure sum, using the money to upgrade his meatpacking plants, and eventually, open new ones.

The first task was to upgrade the current facility to cut out extra expenses and potential exposure to bacteria. After Donovan completed the external upgrade like a new roof and exterior, he went about fixing up the interior. Specifically, he wanted a way to protect the wooden frames of the building from exposure to the damp heat produced inside the facility to avoid moisture damage. He also wanted to create an environment that prevented the growth of bacteria, since contamination is a big concern for any business that handles animal products. This is where Duramax PVC wall panels provided the specifications needed to satisfy both requirements.

We covered Donovan’s 12,000 square-foot meat processing plant with vinyl wall panels, as well as the length of the ceiling for good measure. The facility is now covered in 100% waterproof vinyl, which doesn’t allow water to accumulate in the wood beneath. Duramax PVC wall panels also prevent bacteria from forming on the surface, one of the key attributes for a clean meatpacking facility. Donovan was so pleased with the seal created by vinyl’s seamless installation that he made another order for the extension on his facility, which will be built next year.
