To achieve clean, precise cuts without chipping or cracking Duramax PVC Panels, use standard woodworking power tools equipped with fine-tooth blades. For straight crosscuts, use a circular saw fitted with a fine-tooth masonry blade or a fine-tooth plywood blade (12 to 14 teeth per inch) installed in reverse. For cutouts around electrical boxes, plumbing, or light fixtures, use a jigsaw with a fine-tooth blade or a sharp utility knife. Always wear safety glasses and a dust mask to protect against fine vinyl dust generated during cutting. Read More
Duramax PVC Panels do not act as a thermal barrier for foam insulation. While they offer excellent durability, moisture resistance, and easy maintenance, they are not specifically designed to provide thermal insulation. If your project requires a thermal barrier, it’s recommended to combine Duramax PVC Panels with foam insulation or other insulating materials to meet the necessary thermal performance standards. Because Duramax PVC Panels feature an interlocking tongue-and-groove design that mounts directly to wall studs or framing, any licensed general contractor, carpenter, or interior wall panel installer can easily complete the installation using standard woodworking tools. Detailed, step-by-step installation guides and videos are available on our website for your contractor to review. If you need assistance finding a qualified installer in your area, please contact our sales team, and we will be happy to assist you or guide your contractor through the process. Read More
Fastener requirements depend on panel length and your wall framing layout, as screws must be driven through the integrated nail flange into every underlying stud or furring strip (typically 16 inches or 24 inches on center). Read More
We recommend using #8 or #10 stainless steel or corrosion-resistant truss-head or pan-head screws that are at least 1-1/4 inches long (or long enough to penetrate framing studs by at least 3/4 inch). The wide, flat underside of a truss-head or pan-head screw distributes weight evenly across the nail flange without biting into or pulling through the vinyl. Avoid using countersunk (flat-head) screws, as their tapered undersides wedge into the flange slots and restrict the panel's ability to expand and contract naturally. Always drive screws through the center of the pre-punched slots, leaving approximately a 1/16-inch gap between the screw head and the flange. Read More
Duramax PVC Panels are non-structural wall panels, so heavy items, such as shelves, cabinets, heavy decor, or equipment must never be anchored into the vinyl panel material alone. Heavy items must be fastened through the panel directly into underlying wall studs or pre-installed solid wood blocking. When mounting through the panel, drill an oversized clearance hole (1/4 inch larger than the screw shank) through the PVC to allow the panel to expand and contract naturally without buckling or cracking. Avoid overtightening mounting screws against the face of the panel, as excessive torque can crush the internal hollow ribs. For lightweight decor or light hooks, vinyl-safe surface-adhesive hooks may be used. Read More
Baseboard heaters may be installed in rooms with Duramax PVC Panels, but they must not be mounted directly against the panel surface. You must maintain a minimum clearance of 24 inches from radiant heat sources. Electric baseboard heaters often exceed the maximum safe continuous operating temperature for vinyl (120°F / 49°C), which can cause the panels to warp, discolor, or deform. If the 24-inch minimum clearance cannot be maintained, a fire-rated barrier or heat shield must be installed behind the heating unit. Additionally, any mounting hardware must anchor through the PVC panel directly into underlying studs using oversized clearance holes to allow the panel to expand and contract naturally. Please note that damage resulting from direct heat exposure is not covered under the product warranty. Read More
Silicone sealant is not required for standard dry interior installations, as the interlocking tongue-and-groove system provides basic protection against surface moisture under normal conditions. However, silicone sealant is mandatory for all high-moisture, wet, or direct-water-contact environments (such as car washes, commercial kitchens, agricultural wash bays, and showers). In these applications, apply a continuous bead of 100% food-grade silicone sealant directly inside the tongue-and-groove channels before locking the panels together, as well as inside all perimeter trim channels, to guarantee a completely watertight seal.
To create a fully continuous waterproof barrier in high-moisture or direct-water-contact environments (such as commercial kitchens, car washes, agricultural wash bays, or showers), apply a continuous bead of 100% food-grade silicone sealant (use a sealant complying with FDA Regulation 21 CFR 177.2600 and certified to NSF/ANSI 51.) directly inside the female tongue-and-groove channel before interlocking each panel. Additionally, apply sealant inside the channels of all perimeter trim accessories (J-trims, inside corners, and outside corners) and seal thoroughly around any wall penetrations, such as pipes or electrical boxes, to prevent water from penetrating to the underlying substrate. Yes. Once installed, Duramax PVC Panels perform exceptionally well in cold environments and sub-freezing temperatures, making them ideal for walk-in coolers, cold storage, unheated garages, and agricultural facilities. However, installation requires special care in cold weather. PVC becomes more brittle below 32°F (0°C), increasing the risk of cracking or chipping during cutting and fastening. Read More
